The delegation was made up of HDP deputies Ertuğrul Kürkçü, Faysal Sarıyıldız, Tuğba Hezer and HDP Representative for Europe, Eyüp Doru.
Welcomed by the EP President Martin Schulz, the HDP delegation told about the situation in Turkey and the political genocide against the HDP, and called attention to the importance of a joint struggle by democratic circles.
During the meeting, EP President Martin Schulz stated that Erdoğan caused a disengagement in Turkey’s relations with the European Union, the one single tie left between Turkey and the world.
The HDP delegation had previously met the Chair of Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament, Italian MP Gianni Pittella. Erdoğan and the AKP government officials had in response made statements intolerant of the HDP deputies’ talks in the European Parliament.
