HDP’s delegation is in Portugal to attend PES congress

Our delegation consisting of our vice co-chair and Diyarbakır MP Hişyar Özsoy, Van MP Bedia Özgökçe and our Brussels representative Eyyüp Doru paid visit to Portugal to attend the European Socialist Party (PES) congress held in Lisbon. Our delegation had several meetings with the political groups and personalities during their visit.

In her speech to the delegates at the PES congress Ms. Bedia Özgökçe brought up the issues of the isolation of Öcalan, Leyla Güven’s hunger strike which she started 31 days ago and Selahattin Demirtaş.

Speaking at the meeting hosted by Portuguese Prime Minister Antonio Costas, our vice co-chair Mr.Hişyar Özsoy talked about the political developments in Turkey. Özsoy also noted the detention of elected politicians and politically motivated sentences, especially Selahattin Demirtaş whose release denied by the local court in Turkey despite the ECtHR’s decision. Özsoy also mentioned the isolation of Mr.Öcalan and the related hunger strikes, and the increased oppressions that HDP faces at the ahead of upcoming local election.
