The GABB is the Union of Municipalities of southeast Anatolia, gathering mayors and elected local and regional communities in Northern Kurdistan.

These local authorities aim to work for peace and try to find solutions to regional conflicts.
They are also promoting change as alternative institutions working for a “fair ecological and social improvement at a national and international levels”.

The basic principles of GABB are democracy, civic participation, ecology and male/female parity.

Its main aim is a people-centered development and the dynamic and innovative local resources capable of creating new channels of dialogue and discuss new models of governance for the purpose of consolidation processes for a sustainable peace.

These alternative economic, political and social visions should be offered at a global level, shared experiences, deep reflections and solidarity between peoples are necessary in a context of demands for more democracy, freedom, equality and respect of human rights in the Middle East.
